Curriculum
What You’ll Learn
The Integrative Medicine & Health Sciences program trains students to objectively assess the safe practice and efficacy of various complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) modalities and introduce scientific rigor into understanding the mechanistic basis for CIM therapies such as acupuncture, massage, functional/integrative nutrition, herbs and supplements, and mind-body interactions.
Students who plan on entering careers in private and public sectors related to CIM research, education and integrative healthcare will benefit from a rigorous educational program that incorporates a firm foundation in biomedical science, exposure to CIM disciplines, and competence in evidence assessment.
During the summer, students take part in a practicum that places them with top CIM-related organizations, allowing them to practice what they’ve learned and work on their real-time problem-solving skills. The practicum contributes to students’ knowledge of CIM or public health at clinical, basic science, educational, regulatory or public policy levels. Participants receive mentorship throughout the practicum to make the most of their experience.
